This pleasure house, built in 1679 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, brought to its peak, throughout the 18th century, the art of living of the aristocracy during the Age of Enlightenment. Keen on botany and in love with music, Louis de Noailles received the finest artists of his time there, as well as two future presidents of the United States of America, Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams.
You will be received in the garden for a presentation of the architecture and art of the gardens to which it bears witness. Then you will visit the Duchess's apartment which, by its enfilade and its decorations, still gives a fairly accurate idea of what an apartment of the high aristocracy could have been like in the 18th century.
